Mission Revival of Barren/Fallow Land for Cultivation Records Steady Progress in Pakyong District
Pakyong, June 14:
The Additional District Collector Dev Office, Pakyong District, reports the steady progress of Episode-40 under the Mission Revival of Barren/Fallow Land for Cultivation.
The mission continues to bring positive changes to agriculture, strengthening food availability and supporting economic activities for the people.
MLA of Gnathang Machong, Ms Pamin Lepcha, visited the proposed site and acknowledged the role of the Connect Earth-Sweat Contribution Center, a vision initiated by the Chief Minister, Mr Prem Singh Tamang (Golay).
Maize cultivation has now expanded across several areas in the district, with farmers actively engaging in agricultural activities. Through the mission, previously unused lands have been brought under cultivation, providing farmers with new opportunities to increase their agricultural output. In addition, the administration has drawn plans to introduce millet cultivation across all 28 Gram Panchayat Units (GPUs), further widening the scope of the initiative.
Looking ahead, the mission aims to promote millet cultivation across the district to strengthen food production and support ongoing economic activities. The Additional District Collector Dev Office is closely working with the GPUs to ensure the smooth implementation and effective monitoring of the millet cultivation program.
The Mission Revival of Barren/Fallow Land for Cultivation continues to reshape agricultural activity in Pakyong District and contributes to the larger economic framework of the state. The upcoming millet cultivation phase aims to build upon this foundation and advance agricultural growth.
