Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) students actively participated in a specialized training program conducted at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS), Manali, Himachal Pradesh.
As part of the initiative by NESTS in collaboration with the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports (ABVIMAS), Manali, a Basic Mountaineering Course was held from 13th May to 7th June, 2025. Over 50 students from various Eklavya Model Residential School across the country participated in this program, aimed at promoting physical fitness, discipline, and adventure spirit among tribal students.
A team of 10 students namely Mr. Tsheteez Limboo, Mr. Reetesh Limbu, Mr. Sangdup Lepcha, Mr. Nirmal Subba, Mr. Namgyal Dadul Bhutia, Mr. Phurbu Sampell Bhutia, Mr. Sambay Subba, Mr. Manjil Limboo, Mr. RinchenDadul Lepcha & Mr. Tenzang Lepcha, along with 1 Escort teacher Mr. Mohan Prasad Burathoki, Graduate Teacher (Math) from EMRS Sikkim actively took part in the course and successfully completed the training. Among them, Tsheteez Limboo, a class XII student at Eklavya Model Residential School, Suntoley, Namchi District, has performed exceptionally well and was recognized as the Best Student of the entire batch. This is for the third concoctive year EMRS students from Sikkim haveparticipated in the said course. The team reached back to Sikkim on 10/06/2026.
The course provided a valuable opportunity for students to explore the fundamentals of mountaineering and build confidence in a challenging environment.
