Final Day Program of Inter-GPU Functionaries Cricket Tournament Organized by 26 Mellidara Paiyong GPU, Sumbuk Block, Melli Constituency On the Auspicious Occasion of 50 Years of Statehood, Sikkim
Sumbuk, June 7, 2025 —
In celebration of the Golden Jubilee of Sikkim’s Statehood, the 26 Mellidara Paiyong GPU of Sumbuk Block, Melli Constituency, successfully concluded the final day of the Inter-GPU Functionaries Cricket Tournament. The event was organized with the noble objective of fostering unity, mutual understanding, and a spirit of camaraderie among institutional functionaries of the block through sports and cultural exchange.
The grand finale was graced by the Hon’ble MLA of Melli Constituency, Shri N.B. Pradhan, as the Chief Guest, former MLA Shri Mohan Prasad Sharma as a Guest of Honour.
Prominent dignitaries who marked their presence as Special Guests included:
Hon’ble Zilla Members: Madam Nomit Lepcha, Suchitra Pradhan, and Remika Tamang Hon’ble Panchayat Presidents: Kala Chhetri, and Deepak Bhandari Hon’ble Panchayat Members from various GPUs CLC President: Shri O.T. Lepcha Youth Convenor: Shri Sudhir Karki SHO Melli: Shri Kisor Chhetri ACF & RO (Forest Department) Former Panchayat Presidents, Ward Committee Members, Retired Teachers, SKM Party Representatives and esteemed sponsored.
The program was enthusiastically hosted by Shri Nagendra Chhetri (GPU Staff), with a warm welcome address by Panchayat President Priscilla Limboo, and a keynote speech on the programme was delivered by Panchayt Sachiv Shri Saran Pradhan.
The final day was filled with vibrant cultural performances, including traditional dances and solo songs, adding joy and festivity to the occasion. A friendly exhibition cricket match between the MLA XI and the Melli Police XI also captivated the audience.
The final match of the tournament was contested between Sadam Rabitar GPU and BAC Staff Sumbuk. After a spirited match, the BAC SUMBUK Functionaries Team emerged victorious, claiming the Championship Trophy.
