World Environment Day Celebrated with Statewide Plantation Drive by Monastic Schools & Sanskrit Pathshalas under Ecclesiastical Department
Gangtok, May 05:
In observance of World Environment Day on 5th June 2025, a statewide plantation drive was successfully carried out by all Monastic Schools and Sanskrit Pathshalas under the Ecclesiastical Department, Government of Sikkim.
This green initiative was carried out under the direction and encouragement of Ven. Sonam Lama, Hon’ble Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE), Water Resources and Ecclesiastical Departments.
The plantation drive saw the active participation of Monastic and Sanskrit teachers, along with enthusiastic involvement from the students. Saplings were planted within the premises of monastic institutions and school campuses, reaffirming the commitment of the monastic community to environmental preservation and sustainable living.
The event not only aimed to contribute to the greening of Sikkim but also served as an opportunity to inculcate a deep respect for nature and ecological responsibility among young learners in our Monastic and Sanskrit Schools.
