Today Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim Mr. Om Prakash Mathur participated in a special program organized at Soreng Rurban Complex under Soreng District visit. On this occasion Hon'ble Governor established dialogue with officers of Agriculture and Horticulture, Health, Education, Forest, Fisheries and Rural Development Department.
During the meeting representatives from different departments presented progress, challenges and upcoming plans in their fields. During a review by the Department of Agriculture and Horticulture, the Governor discussed the status of the beneficiaries of the 'Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana' and instructed that eligible farmers who are deprived of it should be connected quickly. He prioritized the effective implementation of the 'Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme', as well as attracted special attention to the 'Prime Minister Agricultural Irrrigation Scheme', 'Drop More Crop', Soil Health Card, Mobile Labs, Farmers Science Center and Organic Products.
During a conversation with the Education Department, he got information about 'PM Sri School, 'Sukanya Prosperity Scheme', availability of clean paygel, dropout rate, NCC status, mental health. He expressed deep concern over drug intake and suicide rate issues and emphasized the need to provide children with moral education from early conditions, enable them to develop strong values and outlooks in life.
Under the Health Department, Hon'ble Governor stressed on ensuring the quick establishment of Ayushman Card and 'Public Medicine Centers'. He said that the effective implementation of these facilities will widen access to health services in people below normal level and will provide cheaper medicines which is the remote initiative of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
During a dialogue with Forest Department officials, the Governor encouraged forest conservation awareness campaigns to take more people.
Under the Department of Rural Development, Hon'ble Governor reviewed the progress of Dharai Development Work, Amrit Sarovar and Housing Plan and paid special attention to the need to implement these schemes more effectively.
During the presentation of the Department of Fisheries, the Hon'ble Governor learnt about the volume of fish production and its marketing status. They emphasized on promoting fisheries and developing it as farmers' income source.
In his address, the Governor said, "This auditorium has the entire team to make the Soreng district the best." I urge you all to rise above your circle and play the role of a parent. Establish intimate relationships with people to make the district leading in the state, go among them, understand their problems and ensure effective implementation of state and central government plans. If we can do this, every person in the society will benefit from these schemes and Soreng District will emerge as a leading state not only at the state but also at the national level. "
The Governor expressed deep concern over the cases of increasing suicide and drug intake and called on everyone to end these social problems.
After this programme, the Governor visited Ugen Choling Math today and prayed for the happiness and peace of the people of the state.
After this, Hon'ble Governor visited the construction site of 'Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose University of Excellence'. The first of four phases of this university is likely to be completed soon, making it a major educational center in Sikkim. Built aimed at promoting multi-subjective courses and holistic education, this university is getting ready which also gave a Power Point presentation which mentioned the plan to develop it as the Eastern Himalayan Studies Center in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) Gone.
The Hon'ble Governor gave special emphasis on intensity from the concerned officials in its work, so that the center of education could soon complete and get a place in major educational institutions of Sikkim.

Chief Minister's Press Advisor - Mr. C. P. Sharma, District Collector Mr. Dheeraj Subedi, people's representative of 36 gram panchayat units, senior officer Gan, villagers, students and former soldiers were present.
