DC Gyalshing Chairs District Task Force for immunization (DTFI)Meeting
Gyalshing, June 2:
The coordination meeting of District Task Force for immunization (DTFI) under District Hospital, Gyalshing was held at the conference hall of District Administrative Centre Gyalshing ,today.
The meeting was chaired by District Collector Gyalshing Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa and had the presence of Joint Director Education Mr Rajesh Thapa,Dr Patrika Rai District Reproductive and Child Health Officer (DRCHO),Dr Smriti Rai District TB Officer (DTO),Dr Aden Bhutia District Immunisation Officer(DIO),Dr Shivani Tamang,Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram(RBSK) & Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK)Coordinator,Mr Arpan Chettri, District Quality Consultant (DQC) and officials from line departments.
The DC Gyalshing thanked the Health Department for organising the meeting and acknowledged the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders.He emphasized the importance of teamwork and professional integrity for the district's overall development.He further stressed the need to focus more on adolescent health, considering the vulnerability of this age group.
DC Gyalshing reiterated his commitment of Rs 15,000/month contribution to the NIKSHAY MITRA initiative from June 2025 and assured efforts to mobilize similar support from like-minded individuals.
He further directed to notify all Gram Panchayat Units (GPUs) to utilize available health-related funds in support of the NIKSHAY Mitra initiative.
He also stressed collaborative efforts to curb suicide rate in the district.
DRCHO Dr Patrika Rai, in her address presented a summary of the previous meeting's Minutes of Meeting(MoM), updating the forum on actions taken and pending works to be addressed.
She provided an overview of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques(PC & PNDT)Act, highlighting its key provisions, current implementation status, monitoring mechanisms and proposal placed to procure required assets for PC & PNDT cell with available registration fee amount of Rs 25,000.
She further briefed the forum on the framework, objectives,and activities conducted
under the School Health and Wellness Programme across schools in the district.And also apprised the house with number of school heads oriented regarding the programme and number of teachers trained under School Health and Wellness Ambassador initiative.
District TB Officer (DTO),Dr Smriti Rai, presented the district's TB status,surveillance progress, and the number of patients notified to date.She highlighted the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in supporting initiatives like the NIKSHAY programme.
District Immunisation Officer (DIO) Dr Aden Bhutia presented the District Task Force for
Immunization (DTFI) updates. She briefed on key immunization indicators, targets set
for FY 2024-25, and the achievements made.
District Quality Consultant (DQC),Mr Arpan Chettri,provided a comprehensive update on the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS)programme. He outlined the objectives aimed at delivering quality public health services,achievements to date, targeted facilities, and future goals. He also emphasized the challenges encountered and stressed the importance of community participation in the quality improvement journey.
In the open interactive session,representative from the Education Department appreciated the training of school health ambassadors under School health and wellness programme, conducted recently by the health deptt in collaboration with Sikkim inspires, which turned out to be very fruitful.
DRCHO suggested the forum to utilise the IVth Finance Commission fund (untied fund) to meet the expenses incurred for POL/ immunisation activities under Urban Health and Wellness Centre(UHWC) since there is no fund allocation for Alternate Vaccine Delivery (AVD)to UHWC from National Health Misdion( NHM)at present.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by RBSK & RKSK Coordinator Dr Shivani Tamang, expressing gratitude to all participants for their active engagement.
