Under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme, the 11th Telangana Formation Day was celebrated today at Raj Bhavan, Gangtok.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Shri Diwas Gautam, Joint Secretary to the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim.
Telangana, the youngest state of India, was formed on 2nd June 2014 following its separation from Andhra Pradesh, becoming the 29th state of the Union of India. The state is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, historic landmarks, and distinctive cuisine. Telangana is also a major producer of rice and cotton, which sustains its vibrant, textile-based handicraft traditions.
Under the visionary Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Foundation Day of every state and Union Territory is celebrated in Raj Bhavan and Raj Niwas across the country with great enthusiasm. These celebrations serve to showcase the diverse linguistic, cultural, and traditional heritage of each region, and aim to promote cultural exchange and strengthen the spirit of national unity and integrity.
The celebration of Statehood Day of Telangana at Raj Bhavan, Sikkim reflected the essence of this initiative.
The event was attended by officers and staff of the Raj Bhavan and conducted by Smt. Mamta Awasthi, Public Relations Officer to the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim.
