A week-long Awareness-cum-Training Programme on Soil Health, Fertility, Management, and Soil Health Card under the Soil Health and Fertility Scheme concluded today in Yangang Subdivision. The programme, held from 26th to 31st May 2025, was successfully conducted across all six Gram Panchayat Units (GPUs) of the subdivision.
The programme saw the esteemed presence of Honourable Zilla Panchayat, Mr. K.D. Kafley, Honourable Panchayat Presidents and Ward Panchayats of the respective GPUs, Deputy Director Agriculture, Ms. Vaishnu Rai, Agriculture Development Officer, Ms. Florenz Bhutia, Agriculture Inspector, Ms. Tshering Yangchen Bhutia, PM-FBY Resource Person, Mr. Suchan Darjee, PM-KISAN Resource Person, Mr. Dayal Rai, GPU Incharges, Krishi Sevaks/Sevikas, and all departmental staff.
The programme primarily focused on the Soil Health Card initiative, which aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices by equipping farmers with comprehensive information on the nutrient profile of their soil. This initiative empowers farmers to make informed decisions regarding the appropriate use of biofertilizers, austin and other soil amendments, thereby enhancing crop productivity and improving overall soil health.
Participants were also sensitized on the significance of macronutrients, micronutrients, soil pH, and other essential components of soil. As a part of the initiative, Soil Health Cards and biofertilizers were distributed, along with detailed briefings on the application and benefits of biofertilizers.
Furthermore, the programme facilitated awareness and registration drives for flagship government schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PM-FBY), ensuring greater outreach and benefit to the farming community.
The initiative witnessed an overwhelming response with the active participation of over 500 farmers, marking the event as a significant success in promoting agricultural awareness and sustainable practices in the region.
