Launching programme of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyaan VKSA at Namchi District
Namchi, 29 May:
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA), a flagship campaign starting from 29th May to 29th June 2025 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), was successfully launched at Jorethang block of Namchi District, Sikkim on 29th May, 2025. The 15-day campaign will focus on disseminating advanced technologies, improved crop varieties, and key government schemes directly to farmers.
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan will be spearheaded by KVKs in coordination with ICAR institutes and State Departments, bringing the vision of a technologically advanced and self-reliant agricultural sector closer to reality.
Multidisciplinary teams - comprising Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) staff, agricultural scientists, officials, and field-level workers - will engage with farming communities to promote modern practices aimed at boosting productivity and income. All KVKs will spearhead the Abhiyan in collaboration with State Government Departments and ICAR Institutes.

Director, Mr. Wangyal Lepcha Dy. Director Mr. Arbin Majhi ADO, Horticulture department officials - Mr. S. T. Lepcha, Dy. Adding to the occasion was the esteemed presence of local public representatives and panchayat members from the respective Gram Panchayat Units (GPUs), underlining strong community support for the initiative.
