Mangan, May 28:
Kalaw Milk Producers’ Cooperative Society came into force after successful registration under The Sikkim Cooperative Societies Act and the first official meeting was held on 28/05/2025 at Kalaw under Ringhim Nampatam GPU.
The meeting took place in the presence of the Ward Panchayat, Kalaw, Shri Passang Namgyal Lepcha, Dr. Hissay D Lepcha, JD (AH&VS) cum M.D (NDMU), Mr. Pema Wangchuk Bhutia, Assistant Registrar (ARCS), Cooperation Department, Cooperative Inspector, Assistant Cooperative Inspector, and society members.
The meeting began with a welcome speech by the Ward Panchayat, followed by the MD's address. The ARCS highlighted the process of forming the Board of Directors (BoD), their roles and responsibilities, and mentioned that the year is being celebrated as the International Year of Cooperatives. The concerned inspector emphasized maintaining of proper books of account (cash book ,meeting register,share register, visitor register)and the importance of audit.
The following resolutions were passed during the meeting:
1. The previous chief promoter elected for society registration was dissolved.
2. A new 5-member BoD was elected, comprising President Shri Khichung Lepcha and Secretary Shri Pemla Lepcha.
3. The BoD decided to deposit the TDR amount into the society's bank account at the earliest.
4. The BoD resolved to maintain the required books of accounts.
5. The BoD agreed to submit a copy of the 25-year land agreement for the milk collection center to the office.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks.
