Gyalshing District convenes Coordination Meeting of School Heads
Gyalshing,May 23:The District Education Office, Gyalshing, convened a coordination meeting of school heads, with district and Block officials, at the Conference Hall of Zilla Panchayat, Gyalshing,today.
The meeting was presided over by District Collector Gyalshing Mr Tenzing D. Denzongpa.
The agenda of meeting included better coordination between the office and schools for schools improvement. EMMIS, UDISE, APAAR and PM-Poshan, which require daily data handling was the main point of discussion. The meeting also had elaborate discussions on Board Examination performance, systematic flow of information, specific problems of schools, drop-out and retention.
An awareness song, titled HAPPY SCHOOL, produced by the District Education Office, was formally released during the programme. The song, composed by Joint Director Education Mr Rajesh Thapa,arranged by HM, Ramidham PS Mr DK Gurung and sung by government school students of Dentam Block, talks about the happiness with which a school is related. Socialising of children begins in school, where teachers love and care for them like parents. Children learn values and virtues in their school, which mould them into responsible citizens. The song emphasizes on schools to be attractive and homely, so that children yearn to go and be.
The District Education Office has started to felicitate and offer gratitude to the HOIs and officers, who have attained superannuation. The District Education family felicitated Ms Winniefred Rai (Principal), Mr BS Subba (Principal) and Mr BD Subba (Deputy Director), for their lifelong selfless service to the Department and schools.
Joint Director Gyalshing Mr Rajesh Thapa, presented the agenda through ppt, as a time saver and for effective communication.
The chairperson, Mr Denzongpa, DC, Gyalshing, assured the school heads of all possible support in their effort to transform their schools. Remembering the initial days of his career, he shared the story of his stint as a teacher in North Sikkim. Motivating the School Heads to do more and more and perform their duties with utmost sincerity, he encouraged them to lead their schools ahead. He also mentioned the initiatives of providing smart classes, hostel facilities, laboratories and library books through CSR initiatives.
SDM (HQ), Mr Pulkit Balhara stressed on the need of mentorship, so that children in distress and cluelessness can get correct mentorship. He talked about the initiative of Gyalshing District named SIKKIM MENTOR, which is a web based program having mentors and students, specially youths in need of guidance.
CEO Gyalshing Mr PG Bhutia, in his keynote address urged the Heads of Schools to join hands in bringing positive change in the education scenario of Gyalshing District. He presented the latest decisions of the department, based on the outcomes of meetings with the HQ. In his address, the CEO expressed his gratitude to the retired principals and Deputy Director, for their presence and their contribution to the Department. He congratulated schools for their academic performance and innovative practices.
During the open discussion session, HOIs raised issues of concern and also made suggestions for improvement. Matters related to EMMIS portal and the problems like pending transfers of both teachers and students, that are not possible at the school level, were discussed.
Science and mathematics kits under Rashtriya Avishkaar Abhiyan were distributed to schools, along with equipments from Organic Farming Unit of the Department.
The meeting concluded with vote of thanks proposed by AD I (Gyalshing) Mr Dinesh Pradhan, who also was the Master of Ceremony, while the minutes were drawn by AD II (Gyalshing)Mr Rajen Tamang.
