A group of inducted IAS officers, currently undergoing their foundation training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, paid a courtesy call on the Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, at Raj Bhavan today.
The officers, who are part of the ongoing Bharat Darshan tour, are visiting Sikkim as part of their learning journey.
The call on commenced with each officer introducing themselves, followed by an engaging interaction with the Hon'ble Governor. During the interaction, the officers shared their observations and experiences from visiting Sikkim. They expressed admiration for the state’s impressive strides in various areas, particularly highlighting Sikkim as a model of high women entrepreneurship, cleanliness, and an advanced civic sense. The officers also praised the state's commitment to organic farming, which has further added to the state's laurels.
In his brief address, the Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim appreciated the officers for their insights in acknowledging Sikkim's ongoing progress in different sectors. He noted that Sikkim stands as a beacon of women's empowerment, with women leading the charge in numerous sectors, both in practice and implementation. He also highlighted the state’s remarkable achievement of having a zero crime rate, contributing to the state’s peaceful environment.
The Hon’ble Governor further shed light on the impressive surge in literacy rates across the state, as well as the resilience shown by the people of Sikkim in the face of adverse weather conditions. Despite facing challenges such as heavy rainfall, he emphasised that the state’s work does not stop, and efforts continue to drive forward the state’s development agenda.
Additionally, he underscored the significant success of state initiatives such as “Mero Rookh Mero Santati” and lauded the effective coordination between various departments towards building a greener Sikkim.
A major highlight of the Hon’ble Governor’s address was the mention of the pivotal role played by Major General Sagat Singh during the 1967 Nathu La clashes between India and China. His contribution to the defence of the nation remains an enduring symbol of bravery and resilience towards the protection of the nation.
Furthermore, the Hon'ble Governor graciously extended his best wishes to the officers, commending them for their dedication and hard work while encouraging them to continue serving with excellence and commitment in their respective roles.
