SRLM Launches ‘SAHARA Special SHG’ to Mark 50 Years of Statehood, Promoting Inclusive Development in Namcheybong
Namcheybong, Pakyong District:
As part of the ongoing celebrations commemorating the 50th year of Sikkim’s Statehood, the State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) under the Rural Development Department (RDD), Government of Sikkim, has taken a significant step forward in fostering social equity and inclusive development.
Under the aegis of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) and with the support of the Social Inclusion and Social Development (SISD) Division of the State Mission Management Unit (SMMU), SRLM has successfully facilitated the formation of a Special Self Help Group (SHG) for differently abled persons. Named ‘SAHARA Special SHG’, the group has been formed at Lower Aho Village under Aho-Yangtam GPU, Namcheybong Block.
Led by Namcheybong Block Project Manager Mr. Rajendra Kumar Sharma and Assistant Project Manager Mr. Suraj Sapkota, this initiative reflects the department’s unwavering commitment to empower differently-abled individuals by providing them with a platform for collective growth, self-reliance, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
This initiative is a testament to the vision of the Government of Sikkim—ensuring that no individual is left behind due to physical or social barriers. It reinforces the State’s broader goal of building a Sunaulo, Samriddha, and Samartha Sikkim—a golden, prosperous, and capable Sikkim for all.
