National Science Day
Namchi 28 April:
On the occasion of National Science day and 50 years statehood of Sikkim, Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology celebrated a National Science Day under the guidance of Dr. C.P. Khatiwada, Assistant Professor, Engineering Physics, SIST Chisopani. We thank our Principal cum Director Prof. (Dr.) B.B. Pradhan for encouragements and constant support for organized such a great event with grand manner.
Dr. C.P. Khatiwada highlighted the theme for National Science Day 2025 is “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation for VIKISIT BHARAT”.
Further, On the occasion of National Science Day, celebrated annually on 28th February to the honor of Sir C.V. Raman for his legacy, who discovered Raman Effect on 28th February 1928. It was a great achievement and for that he received Nobel Prize which was the first Nobel prize in science for Asia in 1930.
In 1986, NTSC took initiative to get the government of India to designate February 28th as which is is now celebrated all over India. Dr. C. V. Raman (Dr. ChandrasekharaVenkata Raman) was born on November 07, 1888 in Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu. After his studies in 1917, at the age of 29, Raman becomes a professor at Calcutta University. In 1919, Raman elected as the secretary of India. Some of the students also given talked and presentation on National Science Day in India
