To commemorate 50 years of Sikkim’s Statehood, a One-Day at School Programme was conducted at Government Senior Secondary School, Chakung.
As part of the celebration of 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood, the District Administration Soreng, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, Soreng, organised a one-day at School awareness programme at Government Senior Secondary School, Chakung on 17th April 2025.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome and offering of khada to the Principal of Chakung Senior Secondary School. The school committee then, welcomed the representatives of the Social Welfare Department.
Ms Prativa Tamang Senior Welfare Officer (Social Welfare Department), delivered a welcome speech to the students and guests, which was followed by an introductory speech delivered by MsJyotsna Rai (Welfare Inspector). She explained the role of the department and the services it provides to the community, especially for students and the youth.
Ms Jyotsna Rai also gave a detailed presentation on the works under Central Sponsored Schemes handled by the Social Welfare Department. She further explained the different scholarships available, the eligibility criteria, and the step-by-step process to apply. She also informed students about the documents required to avail these scholarships and the scholarship rates under each scheme.
The programme was very interactive and informative. It helped the students learn about the valuable work done by the Department of Social Welfare and the various schemes available for their benefit.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the students and the school for their active participation and interest throughout the programme.
This initiative successfully raised awareness among students and encouraged them to make the best use of the resources and schemes available to them for their future.
