Comprehensive GPU Visit Reinforces Grassroots Development in Lingthem-Lingdem
BAC Dzongu-17/04/2025:
Today, team comprising BAC officials led by the BDO, Passingdang, along with the Gram Panchayat members and Zilla representative of Lingthem-Lingdem GPU, undertook a much-anticipated field visit across key sites in the GPU. The initiative not only reaffirmed the effectiveness of grassroots governance but also sought to assess ongoing developmental activities and address persisting challenges within the region.
This well-coordinated visit was carried out under the visionary leadership of Honourable Minister cum Area MLA Shri Pintsho Namgyal Lepcha. His dynamic and people-centric approach aims to foster sustainable development, while ensuring the timely rollout of welfare-oriented schemes and inclusive policies designed to uplift rural communities.
During the course of the visit, the team conducted an inspection of the under-construction bridge at Laven, a critical infrastructure project that will enhance connectivity to Sakyong-Pentong GPU. The project was observed to be progressing swiftly and is slated for completion within the next month—an encouraging sign of the administration’s commitment to timely project execution.
In addition to infrastructure review, the visiting delegation also visited Laven Primary School and Lingdem Primary School. Here, meaningful interactions took place with the teaching staff, school management, and students, focusing on the aspirations of the local community and the evolving role of education in shaping future. The BDO took the opportunity to spotlight key national educational reforms, including the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, NIPUN Bharat, and the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) initiative.
He further elaborated on the transformative shift toward competency-based education, well-defined learning outcomes, and the implementation of the Holistic Progress Card (HPC) to ensure well-rounded student assessment. The importance of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for educators was underscored as a vital component in delivering quality education and fostering academic excellence at the foundational level.
The Panchayats, Zilla, and the wider community of Lingthem-Lingdem GPU extend their profound gratitude to the Honourable Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang Golay and his progressive government for their unwavering support and sanctioning of multiple development projects across Dzongu. This reflects a compassionate and inclusive governance model that remains deeply attuned to the aspirations of its people. The present government’s unwavering commitment to balanced regional development, visionary planning, and people-first governance has become a cornerstone of transformation in remote areas like Dzongu. Such dedication continues to inspire hope and progress among local communities.
