Awareness-Cum-Distribution Programme of Piglets conducted at KVK Gyalshing to Boost Pig Farming
Gyalshing,March 19: In a bid to promote sustainable agriculture and improve the livelihoods of rural farmers, KVK Gyalshing in collaboration with ERS, ICAR- IVRI Kolkata conducted an Awareness-Cum-Distribution Programme of Piglets. The programme was graced by Hon’ble Panchayat Member Sindrong, Mrs Phurba Doma Bhutia.
The programme begun with a welcome address by Sr Scientist & Head, thanking ERS, IVRI Kolkata for a collaborative effort for enhancing the livelihood of our farmers. This initiative aims to enhance the knowledge of pig farming practices while distributing high-quality piglets to local farmers to help them expand or start their pig farming ventures.
Dr PK Nanda, Pr Scientist, IVRI Kolkata shared the knowledge on Scientific Pig Farming especially focussing on African Swine flue and its preventive measures.
Dr Samiran Bandhyopadhyay, Pr Scientists from ICAR- IVRI Kolkatta disseminated critical information about best practices in animal husbandry, nutrition, health management, and disease control, while also providing farmers with high-quality piglets that can lead to improved productivity and greater profitability.
The programme concluded with distribution of 150 nos of piglets to the progressive beneficiaries.
