STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM TO NEW DELHI UNDER ‘EK BHARAT SHRESTHA BHARAT CAMPAIGN’-2025
GANGTOK, February 20: An Educational tour cum Student exchange program to New Delhi, under the ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ initiative, organised by State Project Office, Samagra Shiksha, Education Department, Govt. of Sikkim in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha, Directorate of Education, New Delhi was held from 4th-12th Feb’ 2025.
“Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” campaign, an initiative of Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, aims to actively enhance interaction between people of diverse culture living in different States and UTs in India. The main objective of the campaign is to promote the idea of a sustained and structured cultural connect between people of different regions.
All government schools of Sikkim have been actively participating in this campaign since its inception with lot of enthusiasm and vigor wherein schools of the state perform various activity in relation with the paired state i.e., Delhi as per the calendar of activities prescribed for the “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” campaign. Teacher and Student Exchange cum Educational tour is also an important aspect of the campaign.
A team of 22 people comprising of Govt. school students from across the six districts of the state along with escort teachers and official from SPO/Samagra Shiksha, Gangtok visited a State Govt. school in Delhi, Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Rouse Avenue New Delhi. The team of student’s also had the opportunity to interact and exchange/share facts on local culture, customs, cuisines & tradition of Sikkim with the students and teachers of paired state- Delhi.
The visiting team were introduced to some of the best practices followed by the schools of Delhi such as Student’s Business & Entrepreneurship Council, E-Waste Management, Happiness classroom, Digital Science & Commerce Laboratory, Stress Buster Lab etc. Likewise, the team from Sikkim also visited the important historical sites and monuments in Delhi, which forms an integral part of the culture, custom and heritage of Delhi.
The participating students have expressed their happiness and excitement on the opportunity offered to them for the Exposure trip to Delhi and they wish to incorporate the good practices they learned of the schools of Delhi in their daily classroom and learning too.
The students and teachers team also expressed their thanks and gratitude to Education Department, Govt. of Sikkim for organising the educational tour program.
