Sikkim Nurses step into International Careers as they arrive in Germany on 28.01.2025
In the latest update issued by the Skill Development Department, 04 women nurses from Sikkim have arrived in Germany on 28th January 2025. They are Prerna Rai, Susmita Basnett, Sanjana Pradhan and Shreya Rai. They have landed in Dusseldorf International Airport around 07.00 am (India Time) and were received by employers and project partner representatives.
They are employed with St. Anna Stift Nursing Home run by the Catholic Church, Parish of St. Martinus in Hagen City in the State of North Rhine - Westphalia, Germany. All 4 nurses will be working as a registered Nurse in Germany.
It may be recalled that, under the Sikkim INSPIRES Program, 13 women nurses have been trained in German language in Kerala and they have secured placements in Germany’s healthcare sector.
Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Sikkim had recently felicitated them from the stage of the Maghey Sankranti Mela on 14th January 2025 at Jorethang. The rest of the nurses will be reaching Germany in batches by the end of March 2025.
The have undergone the training at N.able Institute in Kochi and their placement has been overseen by Bilingual Vitae, a Gangtok-based Company in partnership with Ideal Job Space, the German counterparts.
The German language training is a joint effort of the Skill Development Department, Commerce & Industries Department and Planning & Development Department.
This remarkable initiative underscores the State’s unwavering commitment to empowering women, fostering international career pathways, and showcasing the exceptional talent of Sikkim on a global platform. It also reflects the dedication of the Skill Development Department to equipping youth with relevant skills and opening doors to transformative opportunities.
