76th Republic Day Celebration at Block Administrative Centre, Passingdang, Dzongu, Mangan District
BAC Passingdang, Dzongu, 26th January 2025: The 76th Republic Day of India was celebrated with unparalleled patriotic zeal and grandeur at the Block Administrative Centre (BAC), Passingdang, Dzongu. The auspicious occasion was graced by Shri Samdup Tshering Bhutia, the Hon’ble MLA cum Advisor, State Trading Corporation, Sikkim, as the Chief Guest, accompanied by SDM Dzongu Shri Gideon Lepcha, BDO Passingdang, Dzongu Dr. Mahendra Tamang, Zilla Panchayats, Panchayat Presidents, Members, PRI functionaries, representatives from the Forest Department, and the Police Department of Dzongu.
The celebration commenced with the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag by the Hon’ble Chief Guest, followed by the resounding rendition of the National Anthem, instilling a profound sense of pride and unity. The cultural program showcased the vivid heritage of the region, featuring traditional Lepcha, Bhutia, and Nepali dances by the students of Government Secondary School, Passingdang and staff from BAC Passingdang, and soul-stirring patriotic song performed by the staff of the SDM Office, Dzongu.
As part of the formal proceedings, SDM Dzongu Shri Gideon Lepcha eloquently read out the Governor of Sikkim’s message, while BDO Passingdang, Dzongu Dr. Mahendra Tamang delivered the Chief Minister’s address, underlining the monumental strides made by the current Government in advancing developmental and welfare initiatives across the state.
The Hon’ble Chief Guest, in his keynote address, emphasized the pro-people policies and transformative schemes introduced under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang Golay. He passionately advocated for the preservation of local culture, traditions, and environmental resources, stressing their integral role in ensuring a sustainable future. The Chief Guest further highlighted the immense potential of Dzongu as a hub for eco-tourism, adventure tourism, and biodiversity conservation, underscoring the region’s natural splendor and spiritual significance as a land sanctified by Guru Rinpoche. He called upon the collective responsibility of the community to safeguard Dzongu’s unparalleled natural and cultural wealth.
Following the program, the Hon’ble MLA conducted an inspection of the BAC premises, meticulously reviewing the cleanliness of the office and appreciating the photographic display of Dzongu. The exhibition, a thoughtful initiative by the BAC, aimed to educate and inspire visitors by showcasing the region’s breathtaking beauty and untapped potential for growth and development.
The event concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Smt. Nima Lhamu Lepcha, Panchayat President of Hee Gyathang GPU, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organizers. The program was skillfully hosted by Mr. Poth Lepcha, VAA, BAC Passingdang, Dzongu, leaving an indelible mark of patriotism, unity, and cultural pride while welcome address delivered by Shri Dawa Lepcha, Panchayat President of Lum GOr Sangtok GPU.
