The Hon'ble Minister,Mines & Geology,Govt of Sikkim,Shri Pintso Namgyal Lepcha is attending the two day 3rd National Mining Ministers'Conference at Konark,Odisa.
The first day of the conference was attended by Shri G.Kishan Reddy,Union Minister of Mines along with the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Odisa Shri Mohan Charan Majhi who was the Chief Guest of the inaugural session.
The meeting also saw the attendance of Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar along with 11 other Hon'ble Ministers from States of Bihar,Telangana,Andhra Pradesh,Arunachal Pradesh,Tripura,Assam,Chattisgarh etc.
Ministry of Mines emphasized on auction of mineral blocks,mine Safety,innovation in mining sector etc for sustainable development practices as well as augmentation of mineral resources of the country.
Hon'ble Minister Shri Pintso Namgyal Lepcha in his speech informed about the mineral resources of our state and the fragile nature of our geology which may not permit heavy mineral extraction.However some suitable sustainable practices may be found for some of our minerals like base metals in Dikchu,Coal in Namchi & surrounding areas.The Hon'ble Minister conveyed the warm wishes of the Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang to the distinguished gathering.This meeting was an experience in information sharing and learning for all North Eastern States about good practices in not only mining but also the impact it has on all stakeholders.
The Hon'ble Minister is accompanied by Secretary,DMG Mrs Dicky Yangzom,IAS and Principal Director,DMG Mr Phigu Bhutia.
