Road Safety Awareness Campaign under National Road Safety Month 2025 kicked off at Gangtok City organized by Sikkim Traffic Police Gangtok/Pakyong District and Nehru Yuva Kendra Gangtok at Children Park Taxi Stand and MG Marg on 17.01.2025.
DSP Traffic Shri Bimal Gurung and Road Safety Instructor Shri Naren Rai(Traffic Inspector) were the Resource Persons.DYO,NYK delivered the welcome speech and also discussed the need of the Awareness Campaign every year.DSP Traffic Shri Bimal Gurung motivated the Drivers for feel proud and maintain dignity. He also briefed the norms to follow while settling accident related claims.
Further Mr Naren Rai, Road Safety Instructor gave a detailed speech on Motor Vehicles act and other traffic rules. Finally the pedestrian related grievances of drivers was addressed by Shri Naren Rai.
In the followup event during traffic Volunteering, Hon'ble Deputy Mayor of GMC Smt Tsering Palden Bhutia interacted with the Volunteers. Hon’ble Counselors of MG Marg and Tibet Road were also present there.
Shri TT Bhutia, Hon'ble MLA of 29 Kabi Lunchuk Constituency also graced the occasion and praised the efforts of the Traffic Police Department and NYK Gangtok.He also urged Sikkim Traffic Police and NYK Gangtok to conduct awareness at Tashi View Point Taxi Stand next week.
The 5 Days Road safety Awareness Campaign will continue till 23rd of Januray,2025.
