Under the banner Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana - van dhan Kendra’s of Sikkim participated in the mega event at Jamui , Bihar. The program is being organised by Ministry of Tribal affairs along with TRIFEd .
The program was inaugurated by the Honourable Prime minister along with other dignitaries. The program is scheduled from 15-24 November 2024 which showcases the products , art and culture of different states .
PRADHAN MANTRI VAN DHAN YOJANA (PMVDY) Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana was launched on 14th April, 2018 by Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, with the aim to improve tribal income through value addition of Minor Forest Produce (MFP).
An initiative of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and with the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) as the nodal agency at National level, the PMVDY scheme targets livelihood generation for tribals by harnessing the wealth of forest i.e., VAN DHAN.
It is to be mentioned here that the Department of Science and Technology is the State Nodal Agency for the Yojana and the Department of Cooperation is the State Implementing Agency. A total of 80 Kendras are set up across the State and each VDVKs comprise of women self help groups and other MFP gatherers with a total of 300 members of each Van Dhan Vikas Kendra.
The leaders of VDVK are being regularly participating in such out of state exhibitions showcasing products promoting events and also within the state as and when organised by line departments and state government that has been motivating the members of vdvk to excell their products and have a additional source of incomes. State SRLM is already engaged in to the implementation of project to mentor such trained VDVKS for furtherance of their continued production and marketing .
