Visit of Karanjit Singh(IRS), Director(SBM- Grameen ), Ministry of Jal Shakti
Mr Karanjit Singh, Director of SBMG is on three day tour of Sikkim from 9th-11th November,2024. He is accompanied by Ms Sucheta Deb, Consultant, Ministry of Jal Shakti, GoI. Their visit is aimed to assess the actual work executed at the ground level in sanitation in the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission(Grameen) in the State of Sikkim as the 1st ODF Plus Model State. They will be tour to Gyalshing, Namchi and Pakyong Districts during their visit.
The visiting team were received at Baiguney, Soreng District by the Panchayat President-Gelling Baiguney GP,Karna Bir Rai and other Block and GP officials. The visiting team inspected the assets like community sanitary complex(CSC), dry waste segregation sheds, compost pits and resource recovery vehicle(RRV) at Baiguney.
The team was then received at Legship by Surat Gurung, ADC(Dev), Gyalshing District and SBM-G officials and proceeded for Chongrang Block. The Director was received at Arithang Chongrang by BDO - Chongrang, Geeta Gurung, Panchayat President (Sarpanch), Ganga Maya Chettri and team of Arithang Chongrang GP. The GP presented the profile video of their GP at the Gram Prasasanik Kendra Hall and gifted the products of SHGs.
The team inspected the Arithang Chongrang Resource Recovery Centre-RRC, household level and community sanitation assets constructed under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen).The team also visited Yuksam Dubdi GP where they were detailed on the management of PWMU Yuksam Plastic Waste Management Unit. Later, the team was received by Panchayats of Darap Singpneng GP at Darap.
The visiting team will inspect sanitation assets in Ravongla, Damthang, Temi Tarku and also visit the Kamarey Model Village under Budang Kamarey GP, Pakyong District.
