Final Day of Phase-I Platinum Jubilee Celebrations at Phong Secondary School
Namchi, 3 October : The concluding day of the Phase-I Platinum Jubilee Celebrations at Phong SS took place yesterday i.e on 2nd October marked by great success and enthusiasm.
The event was honoured by the presence of Shri Sanjeet Kharel, the Area MLA and Advisor to the Power Department, Government of Sikkim, as the Chief Guest.
Present during the programme were Mr Pravin Gautam, SDM Namthang Sub-Division, Mr GP Sharma Joint Director Education Department Namchi District, Mr Ratan Gurung BDO Namthang, Mr Anil Shankar Zilla Minister Panchayat, Mr D K Rai Senior Alumni, Retd. Secretary Mr L T Lepcha, MVI
Mr Deepak Kharel, PI, Heads of the participating schools.
The Guests of Honour included international footballer Mr Sanju Pradhan, Poet Idol Winner Season-I Ms Neelam Gurung, and singer/teacher Ms Nikita Century.
The celebrations began with a warm welcome speech by Mr YK Dahal, General Secretary of the Organising Committee.
Program Chief Executive Coordinator Mr Bhim Dhungel elaborated on the event, incorporating the spirit of Gandhi Jayanti.
Mr Sanju Pradhan delivered an inspiring address, motivating young athletes and commending the U14 tournament.
The final debate saw BKSSS Namthang face off against TPMSSS Rateypani, with BKSSS Namthang emerging victorious. The panel of judges included Mr Suresh Sharma, Shri Som Bahadur Rai, and Ms Neelam Gurung.
Students from Phong SS, children of Tanzi Ward, Sanskar Samiti, and staff from both Phong SS and Namthang BAC showcased vibrant cultural performances that captivated the audience.
Ms Ayushma Dahal, a student from PM Shri Namchi Girls SS School, recited an inspiring piece titled "Believe in Your Power." Additionally, a member of the NJS Club Basbotey presented a touching.
During the Veteran Football Final Sanskar Samiti Upper Phong triumphed over Payongram Village with a score of 4-2.
And on the U-14 Boys’ Football Final: Phong SS defeated Bikmat SSS 2-1.
In his address, Mr Sanjeet Kharel expressed his commitment to supporting the development of the school and its students, while also reflecting on the significance of 50 years of statehood.
Mr Saroj Kumar Gurung, President of the Organising Committee, extended his gratitude to all supporters, emphasising the event's positive impact on the school’s growth and student development. The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Treasurer Mr BP Dhungel, acknowledging the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour, participating schools, local teams, and all contributors to the event's success.
The event was hosted by Mr Sachin Gurung, Mr Bhawani Tiwari, Ms Pranita Tamang, and Ms Arpana Gurung.
In a fitting conclusion to the celebrations, a Temple of Goddess Saraswati was inaugurated, donated by Mr Bikash Dahal and Family.
