Sikkim participates in the Bengaluru Road show of the Northeast Investors Summit
A Sikkim delegation led by Shri Karma R. Bonpo, IAS, Secretary, Commerce & Industries Department alongwith Shri Ravi Kumar, IFS, Director, MSME and Shri Gopal K. Chettri, SCS, Joint Secretary participated in the Northeast Investors Summit organised by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) in Bengaluru on 26th Sept., 2024.
The Summit which was chaired by Shri. Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister for Communication & DoNER, Govt. of India was attended by the delegates of all North-eastern states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
In his address, the Union Minister Shri. Jyotiraditya Scindia emphasised on the beauty and tremendous potential of the northeastern states and mentioned the key developmental projects of the government of India in the NE region like roads, airports and railways and IT parks. He further appealed the investors to invest in the NE region and take advantage of the resources and incentives.
The Summit, aimed at attracting investors to boost industrialization in the NE region was also attended by the representatives of Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industries (FICCI), INVEST India, investors and industrialists from across the country. The primary objective of the summit was to explore the opportunities for collaboration between the industry players and the state governments of the Northeast region, and to promote the region as an emerging hub for Trade and Investment.
The roadshow also provided business leaders with the opportunity to interact with the State Governments of the region on a one-to-one basis, through prescheduled B2G meetings.
The Sikkim team conducted B2G meetings with about 15 Companies and Business house representatives and highlighted the investment opportunities, schemes and incentives for setting up industrial units in Sikkim which will generate employment opportunities and accelerate economic growth of Sikkim.
Joining the NE states, Shri Karma R. Bonpo gave a pitch presentation on the investor-friendly environment and incentives for investors in Sikkim.
