Labour Department, Government of Sikkim conducted awareness cum implementation programme on Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan Dhan Yojna scheme at M.G Marg under Gangtok District on 19/09/2024. Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan Dhan Yojna is a pension scheme launched by the Government of India to provide social security to unorganised sector workers.
It aims to provide old age protection to unorganized workers ensuring a minimum assured pension of ₹3000 per month to subscribers after attaining 60 years of age. The contribution depends on the worker’s age. It ranges from Rs. 55 to Rs. 200 per month and the Government matches this contribution.
The Labour Department further highlighted the importance and key aspects of the registration of Shops and Commercial Establishments under the Sikkim Shops and Commercial Establishment Act, 1983.Furthermore, the subject such as registration of workers/labourers and its
benefits under the Sikkim Labour (Regulation of Employment and Condition of Services) Act, 2021 was also discussed.
Other important aspects such as Child Labour, Minimum Wage, Payment of Wage, ESIC, EPF, Payment of Gratuity,Constitution of Internal Complaints Committee on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace, Constitution of Grievance and Redressal Committee etc. were also discussed in length.
