The Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, visited Nathula and Baba Mandir today, this is his first tour in the state following his recent oath of office.
Upon reaching Nathula Pass at an elevation of 14,140 feet, the Hon’ble Governor was warmly welcomed by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Amit Kapthiyal 17 Mountain Division and other army officers.
The Hon’ble Governors visit also included interactions with army personnel stationed there, where he expressed his profound pride in their dedication. "It fills me with immense pride to witness our soldiers serving under such extreme conditions. Their commitment ensures the safety and peace of our nation," said the Hon’ble Governor
He also learned about the historic 1967 victory of the Indian Army at Nathula, upon which he praised the soldiers as representatives of the entire nation.
As a mark of respect the Hon’ble Governor presented the national flag to the army personals stationed there as a momento of his visit.
The Hon’ble Governor also made respectful visit to the Sherathang War Memorial, where he paid homage to the valor and sacrifices of the soldiers.
Additionally, he visted Baba Mandir, situated at 12,400 feet, where he sought blessings and offered his sincere prayers for the peace and prosperity of the people of Sikkim.
