Freedom Run held under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan in Gangtok district
The District Administrative Center(DAC), Gangtok, in collaboration with Social Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim, successfully organized a Freedom Run under the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’, (NMBA).
The event was graced by Mr Samdup Lepcha, Minister, Social Welfare Department, as the chief guest. Other esteemed dignitaries in attendance included MLA of Upper Burtuk, Ms Kala Rai, Secretary Social Welfare, Ms Sarika Pradhan, Special Secretary Mr Satyen Pradhan, and District Collector Gangtok, Mr Tushar G. Nikhare, ADC(Gtk), SDMs and Assistant Collector, Gangtok.
The chief guest flagged off 10KM and 05KM runs from Reshithang Khel Ground, Ranka, with separate categories for male and female participants. Alongside the run, indoor sports competitions were organized for individuals residing in various rehabilitation centres across the state. The event also featured cultural performances by the participants.

Prize money, medals, trophies, and certificates were awarded to all winners and participants in recognition of their efforts and achievements.
Before flagging off the run, Minister, Mr Samdup Lepcha, addressed the youth, advising them to stay away from drugs and channel their energy towards societal growth. He emphasized the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle and following the guidelines of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan to achieve their goals and contribute positively to society.
District Collector, Gangtok, Mr Tushar G. Nikhare, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the chief guest, special guests, and all other dignitaries for their presence and support.
He also expressed his appreciation to the participants and the representatives of ‘Service to Mankind NGO’ for their continuous support in making the event a success.
