Namchi, 2 July: Block Level Vigilance Committee meeting was conducted by the Food And Civil Supplies Department, Namchi District, at Block Administrative Centre, Poklok Nandugoan, under the Chairmanship of the Hon’ble Zilla Member of Nandugoan Territorial, Smt. Bishnu Maya Chettri, and in the presence of the Block Development Officer, Poklok Nandugoan, Shri Mukesh Dahal, in accordance with Notification No. 855/FCS&CA with 05.10.2018., today.
The main agenda of the meeting were as follows:
1. To regularly supervise the implementation of all schemes under National Food Security Act, 2023.
2. To inform the District Grievances Redressal Officer in writing on violation of the provisions the National Food Security Act.
3. To inform the District Grievance Redressal Office in writing of any malpractices or misappropriation of the fund, found by the committee.
The meeting initiated with the introduction and welcoming of all the attendees. This was then followed by discussions on above mentioned agendas of the meeting.
The District Civil Supplies Officer, Mr Tenzing Bhutia, also conducted an in depth session on National food Security Act, 2013. The attendants were introduced to the different schemes namely Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Priority Household (PHH), Other Priority Household (OPH) and Non Priority Household (NPH), also stating different Eligibility Criteria in the Identification of the Scheme Beneficiaries, their Objectives, Salient features, and Benefits that can be drawn through respective Schemes launched under NFSA, 2013. He stressed on the completion of eKYC of all the beneficiaries that are availing various Schemes of The National Food Security Act, 2013 by the month of September 2024, as directed by the Government of India.
He also emphasised on the various Rights of a consumer and their right to file a complaint on the nearest District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission upon finding any shopkeepers violating the rules and their right to seek Redressal.
The Block Development Officer, Nandugoan, Mr Mukesh Dahal also offered his opinion on willingly surrendering of the Ration Cards by the economically better off beneficiaries that are still availing PHH AND AAY Scheme benefits and also proposed a creation of Consumer Redressal Forum at GPK and Block level.
The Police Outpost In Charge, CCCT Phatak, has also agreed on extending utmost support from the respective department, in proper implementation of the NFSA, 2013 and proper execution and accomplishment of the agendas of the meeting.
The Chairperson, also encouraged on proper adherence to the National Food Security Act, 2013 and the various Rights of a Consumer.
The meeting ended with a quick discussion on the performance of the Government Fair Price Shops of the respective Godown with the beneficiaries present and applauded on the timely Public Distribution System and very good quality of Subsidised food grains offered by the Department of Food And Civil Supplies, Government of Sikkim.
