Soreng, July 7: The Forest and Environment Department, Soreng celebrated ‘A Day to Mother Earth, Ek Ped maa ke Naam, Mero Rukh Mero Santati (MRMS), 7 Minutes to Mother Earth’, today at Rundung Kholcha under Soreng district.
The programme was grace by Mr Madan Cintury (Salgahri-Zoom) as the chief guest. He was accompanied by Mr Pabitra Manav, President Nayabazar Jorethang Nagar Panchayat (NJNP) and members of NJNP, Zilla Panchayat, Panchayats from Zoom and Gelling Baiguney GPU, Mr Gideon Lepcha SDM (HQ/ Soreng), Ms Monica Rai SDM Jorethang along with Mr TT Lepcha DFO (T), Mr Joshep Lepcha DFO (Environment), Officer and Staff of Soreng Forest division, HODs from various departments and local gentry.
The day included a plantation drive led by the chief guest and the officials. The program also featured distribution of certificates to the registered beneficiaries under MRMS scheme by the chief guest.
