The Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, visited BOP Lungthung of the 69th Battalion SSB in Pakyong District today situated at an altitude of 13,500 feet.
Addressing the gathered audience, the Hon’ble Governor expressed his immense pride in being present with the SSB personnel, equating the experience to visiting a pilgrimage site.
The Hon’ble Governor commended the sacrifices made by the SSB jawans, highlighting that their service stands as a testament to pride and dedication to the nation. He emphasized that the peace and safety enjoyed by citizens during festivals and daily life are a direct result of the relentless efforts of the army personnel guarding the borders.
He also lauded the women in SSB, celebrating their role in women empowerment and their dedication to safeguarding the nation. He extended heartfelt salutations to the parents of the army men, acknowledging the unique pride they hold in raising children who protect the nation.
He further praised the jawans for not only protecting the borders but also ensuring the provision of basic facilities to border citizens, promoting equality, aiding during emergencies, and creating employment opportunities.
Moreover, the Hon’ble underscored the fact that the nation's strength is built on the unwavering commitment of its army personnel, who prioritize the nation above their own families.
Furthermore, he said that the actions of the army men are the pride and strength of the nation, making it stronger and more resilient.
The Hon’ble Governor also interacted with the officers and jawans of BOP Lungthung, where in he praised their unwavering commitment to duty and acknowledged the challenges they face while serving in the remote and rugged terrains of the border regions.
The Hon’ble Governor was warmly welcomed by DIG SHQ, Gangtok & Commandant, 69 Bn SSB, Pakyong, Shri Balwan Singh.
In continuation of the day’s events, the Hon’ble Governor also visited the old and new temples of Baba Harbhajan Singh Ji (Thegu and Kupup) at an altitude of approx 14,000 feet, where he offered prayers for the peace and prosperity of Sikkim.
The (DIG) of Sector Headquarters (SHQ), SSB, Siliguri, Shri A.K.C Singh delivered a welcome address, highlighting the dedication and commitment of the SSB personnel.
Present with the Hon’ble Governor were Shri A.K.C Singh, DIG of Sector Headquarters (SHQ), SSB, Siliguri, Shri Balwan Singh, DIG Sector Headquarters Gangtok, Shri Amit Singh, Commandant 69th Battalion SSB , other officials and Jawans.
