Workshop-cum-Hands-on Training on Wildlife Population Estimation Conducted in Namchi
Namchi, 17 March (IPR) : A workshop-cum-hands-on training programme on wildlife population estimation was successfully conducted for field staff of Kitam Bird Sanctuary and Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary under the Wildlife Division, Namchi. The programme was held at the Forest Department Hall, Namchi.
The training was facilitated by resource persons Mr Devendra Singh and Mr Abisek Petwal (Project Associates) from the Wildlife Institute of India – National Tiger Conservation Authority. They provided practical guidance and technical insights to the participants.
During the session, field staff were trained in the use of the mobile application ‘M-STrIPES’ for efficient field data collection and accurate wildlife population estimation. The hands-on approach enabled participants to gain a clear understanding of modern tools and methodologies used in wildlife monitoring and conservation.
The programme aimed to strengthen the capacity of field personnel and enhance the effectiveness of wildlife conservation efforts in the region.
