Workshop on Bartending and Hospitality Skills under Sikkim INSPIRES

Gangtok, May 19 (IPR): A Three-Day Workshop on Basics of Bartending under the Sikkim INSPIRES Project of Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, commenced with an inaugural ceremony at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Sajong Rumtek, here today. Administrator cum Additional Secretary, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Dr Prerna Chamling highlighted the workshop's commitment to fostering employment opportunities for women and youth, a topic chosen for its relevance and broad appeal. The Resource Person for the day, the celebrated Mixologist, Hospitality Consultant, and Entrepreneur Mr Nischal Gurung, guided participants with the concept of Bartending. He imparted on comprehensive training in Bar Management and aimed at enhancing the skills and employability of the Tourism workforce. The inaugural event will be followed by two days of intensive training session. The primary objective of the workshop is to raise awareness about diverse job opportunities in the hotel industry and is aimed to introduce participants to various career paths, emphasising practical skills development. Key areas of focus includes bar operations, mixology, and enhancing essential skills for success in the hospitality sector. Also present were, Head of Department Academics Incharge Mr Sudhakar Sahoo, Head of Department Food Production Mr Sanjiv Kumar Pakhetra, female workforce, homestay owners, local youth, and students.
