Women and Child Development Department holds a meeting on Mission Shakti under Pakyong District.
Pakyong, 8 May (IPR): Mr Tashi Chophel, District Collector Pakyong, convened a meeting, organised by the Women and Child Development Department, at the Rurban Community Complex, Pakyong, today.
The agenda of the meeting aimed at discussing the implementation and guidelines of the Mission Shakti scheme, which is spearheaded by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.
During the session, DC Pakyong urged the committee members to engage with pertinent departments to raise awareness among women about the scheme and empower them.
He also sought information about the process of lodging complaints and the strategies in place to address such issues. Additionally, he presented suggestions to bolster and advance the welfare of women in society.

Senior SP Pakyong offered valuable suggestions to the officials regarding the safety and empowerment of women. He advised them to collaborate with the Police Department during times of need to ensure timely and effective support.
Furthermore, he emphasised the significance of not just creating awareness among women but also providing them with long-term solutions by collaborating with various skill development programmes and banks for financial assistance to build a sustainable and secure future for them.
Moreover, Ms Chong Chuki Bhutia, the Central Administrator for the One Stop Centre Scheme (W&CDD), elucidated on the objectives of the Mission Shakti scheme, which is dedicated to guaranteeing the safety and security of women by offering immediate, comprehensive care, support, and aid to women impacted by violence.
She also briefly touched upon the Sambal scheme, which accentuates women's safety and security, consolidating initiatives such as the One Stop Centre (OSC), Women Helpline (WHL), and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), while introducing Nari Adalats for gender equity.
Furthermore, she highlighted the operational status of the One Stop Centre (OSC) and the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) across the district, providing assistance to distressed women. The helpline number for women in need is 181.
Furthermore, Ms Sristika Sharma, District Mission Coordinator for the Hub for Empowerment of Women, W&CDD, explained the objectives of the Samarthya scheme. The scheme is designed to promote women's empowerment by integrating existing initiatives such as Ujjwala, Swadhar Greh, and Working Women Hostel, while also introducing new elements like Gap Funding for Economic Empowerment.
