Vendor Development Programme concludes with focus on procurement and market linkages
Gangtok, September 30 (IPR): The two-day Vendor Development Programme-cum-Exhibition and Buyer-Seller Meet, organised by the MSME Development & Facilitation Office (MSME-DFO), Gangtok, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, concluded at Ridge Park, Gangtok, today, with a focus on strengthening procurement and market linkages for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in Sikkim.
The programme brought together local entrepreneurs, artisans, Government departments, Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs), Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and institutional buyers, providing a platform for enterprises to showcase their products and explore opportunities for direct business and procurement partnerships.
The second day witnessed Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings, buyer-seller interactions and product exhibitions, allowing participating enterprises to engage directly with prospective institutional buyers and understand their procurement requirements.
A key highlight of the day was a one-to-one interaction session with representatives of Indian Railways, during which local entrepreneurs had the opportunity to understand procurement procedures, identify potential areas of business and explore possibilities for supplying products and services to the organisation.
Technical sessions were also conducted with representatives from CAPEXIL and various banking institutions, focusing on opportunities for expanding business into wider domestic and international markets. Participants were also apprised of the role of export promotion mechanisms and the importance of meeting market and product requirements for accessing new markets.
A dedicated session on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) familiarised entrepreneurs with the platform’s registration and onboarding process, as well as the opportunities available to Micro and Small Enterprises through Government procurement.
Mr. Shekhar Suman, Branch Manager, SIDBI, conducted a financial literacy camp on day 2 of the VDP of MSME.
The programme concluded with a Valedictory Session, bringing together the key outcomes of two days of technical deliberations, product exhibition, B2B interactions and institutional engagement.
The programme provided Sikkim’s entrepreneurs with greater exposure to Government procurement, GeM, institutional buyers, export opportunities, packaging, financial services and market development, while creating avenues for direct engagement with potential buyers.
The organisers expressed the hope that the business connections established during the programme would translate into sustained procurement and market opportunities for local enterprises, thereby contributing to the growth and competitiveness of the MSME sector in Sikkim.
