Valedictory Function of Sikkim State High Level Committee
New Delhi, August 18, 2025:
The Government of Sikkim today held the Valedictory Function of the Sikkim State High Level Committee in New Delhi, chaired by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay).
The High Level Committee was constituted to examine and pursue the long-pending demand for the inclusion of the 12 left-out communities of Sikkim in the list of Scheduled Tribes under the Constitution of India. The valedictory function marked an important step in advancing this historic cause, with the participation of senior officials, community representatives, and distinguished dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Chief Minister reiterated his unwavering commitment towards achieving social justice and equal constitutional rights for all communities of Sikkim. He emphasised that the State Government has been consistently pursuing the matter with the Central Government and expressed confidence that this long-awaited demand will soon be fulfilled.
The programme was organised by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim.
