Traditional Performances and Cultural Fashion Show Mark Second Day of Sikkim Utsav

Gangtok, June 6 (IPR): The second day of the Sikkim Utsav, Gangtok Chapter, organised by the Commerce and Industries Department under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), was held at MG Marg, Gangtok, today.
The programme was attended by the Secretary, Commerce and Industries Department, Ms Karma D Youtso, along with the Director, MSME, Commerce and Industries Department, Mr M Ravi Kumar, Director, DHH, Mr Tshering Topgay Bhutia, and Joint Secretary, Commerce and Industries Department, Ms Champa Sharma. Invited guests, local entrepreneurs, and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
The second day of the event focused on showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Sikkim through a series of traditional folk dances, musical performances, and cultural presentations by artists representing different communities of the State. The performances highlighted the customs, traditions, and artistic expressions that continue to form an integral part of Sikkim’s social and cultural fabric.
A cultural fashion show was among the major attractions of the programme. Participants presented traditional attire and ornaments of various communities, offering the audience an insight into the State’s diverse cultural identities and age-old traditions. The showcase reflected the vibrant heritage of Sikkim and underscored the importance of preserving and promoting indigenous culture.
The cultural presentations drew the attention of a large number of tourists and visitors at MG Marg. Tourists actively participated in the celebrations and appreciated the traditional art forms and cultural displays.
The programme served as a platform to celebrate Sikkim’s cultural diversity while complementing the broader objective of Sikkim Utsav to promote local enterprises, entrepreneurs, and MSMEs.
