Tendong Lho Rum Faat celebration in Namchi
Namchi, 07 August (IPR): A spiritual prayer ceremony on the eve of Tendong Lho Rum Faat was held at Central Park in Namchi today. The prayers was conducted by bongthings for peace, tranquility and brotherhood.
Present during the prayer ceremony was spouse of the Honourable Chief Minister of Sikkim, Ms. Krishna Kumari Rai, and various dignitaries and members of South Renzong Mutanchi Rong Tarjum.
It maybe mentioned here that Tendong Lho Rum Faat is one of the oldest and tradition festivals celebrated by the Lepcha community of Sikkim. The celebration of Tendong Lho Rum Faat started from the year 1993 in Sikkim and the festival was declared as one of the state functions and was included in the Almanac calendar since the year 1997.
A prayer ceremony will also be conducted at Tendong Hill in Damthang, South Sikkim on 08 August.
Tendong Hill is located at 2640 meters (8660 ft) from the sea level and is 7 kms uphill from Damthang bazaar. The hill has the presence of a pious stone called “Longchok” which was brought from Yuksom, West Sikkim and is approximately 12 feet tall.
