Sulabh Sanitation Club Launches Handwashing Station at Govt Sen Secondary School Rorathang

The inauguration programme of the handwashing station under the initiative of Sulabh Sanitation Club, in association with Education Department, was carried out in the presence of Mrs Poonam Pradhan, Deputy Director BAC Pakyong alongside Mr Diwas Gautam, Principal Rorathang SSS, at Government Senior Secondary School, Rorathang today.
The Sulabh Sanitation Club is a child-centred and girl-led global movement of children and young people, engaged in bringing about positive social transformation in schools by empowering through hygiene education.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs Poonam Pradhan emphasised the importance of handwashing and maintaining good health to reduce the risk of contracting various infections. She further encouraged the students to inculcate healthy habits in their day-to-day lives and instructed to collaboratively work towards the maintenance of the handwashing station.
Likewise, Mr Diwas Gautam, Principal Rorathang SSS Rorathang underlined the significance of handwashing stations in schools as it acts as a foundational component and motivates the students on healthy lifestyle. In addition, he urged the senior students to educate the juniors on the handwashing practices while saving the water.
During the event, Mr Rupak Roy Choudhary, Chief Coordinator, Sulabh Sanitation Club, discussed the various initiatives of the organisation aiming to bring social changes within the society. He also highlighted the pivotal role played by SFA Group France in providing financial support to make the project a reality.
Further, he stressed on maintaining proper hand hygiene to promote personal and public health while mitigating the spread of illnesses.
Also present during the programme were Ms Samikshya Das Mohapatra, Counsellor & Coordinator, Sulabh Sanitation Club, SMC members along with students, teachers and officials from Sulabh International, New Delhi.
