State level Sikkim Environment Festival 2025 concluded at Manan Kendra in Gantok.

The closing ceremony of the fifteen-day state-level environment festival under the supervision of Forest and Environment department concluded today at the meditation center in Gantok.
Chief Minister Mr. Prem Singh Tamang was present as Chief Guest in the said program. The main theme of this year's Environmental Festival was "Leave a Green Legacy".
Chief Minister Mr. Prem Singh Tamang addressed the program and demonstrated the importance of nature and environment. He also said that environment protection is not only the duty of the department but also the common responsibility of the whole people. He informed that people oriented programs like 'Mero Tree My Santati', 'My Child From Wild', "Chishu Prosperity Yojana", 'Mero Bot', 'Mero Bot' had the opportunity to represent the nation on the global stage, said this kind of program also helped the theme of global destination according to the visionary thinking of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The main theme of this year's World Environment Day was "Ending Plastic Globally". In which Sikkim was already the leading state among other states which were banned single plastic. Additionally he inaugurated two digital wave portals ‘Online Forest Checkpost’ and ‘Mero Tree My Santati Portal’.
Minister of Forest and Environment Department Mr. Pinchonamgyal Lepcha said during his address that the government's work is environment-centered while emphasizing the protection of environment. He did such programs in Sikkim 2. He informed that 91 percent trees have increased. The Chief Minister's initiative said that the visionary program related to environmental conservation has helped to make the concept of golden, prosperous and capable Sikkim a reality.
The government awarded cash prize to the individuals and organizations who perform excellent in the field of environmental conservation. In which cash to twelve laborers of public work department who perform excellent working on Soreng-Chakhung road under Soreng district under My Way My Boat Program. 50,000 per given. In this way, cash rupees to three Asha employees under the program 'Mero Tree Mera Santati'. 10,800 per plus certificates were awarded. Under this program, children of eighteen beneficiary families of all six districts of the state were given bank account of Sikkim Child Enrichment Scheme.
Top four schools respectively in attendance and response competition organized by Forest and Environment Department on the occasion of Environment Festival 2025: First Govt Senior Secondary School, Tharpu (Soreng District), 2nd Pmshree Govt Senior Secondary School, Mangan (Mangan District), 3rd Govt Senior Secondary School Qusing (Namchi District) and 4th Pmshree Govt. Senior Secondary School Pelling (Gezing district) was awarded with cash certificate from Chief Guest's Bahuli.
In this program, Forest and Environment Department presented a public awareness documentary and drama on environment conservation.
The Chief Secretary of Forest and Environment Department Dr. Pradeep Kumar gave a welcome address at the program which started with lighting the lamp.
Minister Mr. Sonam Lama, Minister Mr. Samdup Lepcha, Minister Mr. Bhojraj Rai, Minister Mr. Purankumar Gurung, MLAs, Advisor, District Panchayat President, Mayor of Gantok Municipal Corporation, Deputy Mayor, Councillor, Gram Panchayat member, Secretary of various departments and departmental heads, members of self help group, Asha staff from different schools including staff Teachers and students were present.
