20th November 2019(IPR): A State Level Coordination Committee meeting of National Tobacco Control Programme was held at the Conference Hall, Tashiling Secretariat, Gangtok. The Chief Secretary, Shri S.C. Gupta, IAS, Government of Sikkim chaired the meeting. The meeting was attended by Shri C.S. Rao, IFS, Secretary, Rural Development Department, Government of Sikkim, Shri K. Sreenivasulu, IAS, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, District Collector, Shri Raj Yadav, IAS along with the representatives from various line Departments.

In the meeting, the Chief Secretary stressed on making use of different Media such as Social Media and Print Media for creating awareness among the masses for effective implementation of N.T.C.P. He directed the department to make short catchy videos, posters and banners.

The Chief Secretary directed the District Collector (East) to conduct a seven days workshop for Nodal Officers of the different departments for sensitization on various aspects of N.T.C.P.

In the meeting, Dr. P. M. Pradhan, Mission Director, National Health Mission gave the welcome speech. It was followed by a PowerPoint presentation on National Tabacco Control programme by Dr. Baroon Subba, Additional Director cum Nodal Officer, N.T.C.P. The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks by Shri T. Targain, Joint Director, Sanitation Cell.
