Special Intensive Revision Hearing Process Continues Across Gangtok District

Gangtok, Aug 6 (IPR): The hearing process under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls continued across Gangtok district today in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. The hearings are being conducted by the designated electoral authorities to consider claims and objections received from electors and to ensure that the revision process is carried out in a fair and transparent manner.
A total of 2,516 hearings were conducted across the district during the day.
The constituency-wise details are as follows:
* 16-Tumen-Lingi Assembly Constituency: 179 hearings
* 17-Khamdong-Singtam Assembly Constituency: 249 hearings
* 23-Shyari Assembly Constituency: 490 hearings
* 24-Martam-Rumtek Assembly Constituency: 352 hearings
* 25-Upper Tadong Assembly Constituency: 195 hearings
* 26-Arithang Assembly Constituency: 351 hearings
* 27-Gangtok Assembly Constituency: 94 hearings
* 28-Upper Burtuk Assembly Constituency: 539 hearings
* 32-Sangha Assembly Constituency: 67 hearings
The hearing process enables the designated authorities to examine each application on its merits before arriving at a decision in accordance with the provisions of the Election Commission of India. The ongoing revision exercise is aimed at ensuring that the electoral rolls remain accurate, updated, and inclusive, while reinforcing the transparency and credibility of the electoral registration process.
