Sikkim Aama Sasaktikaran Yojana Cheque Distribution Programme Held at Namprikdang Dzongu
Mangan, October 3 (IPR): The cheque distribution programme under the Sikkim Aama Sasaktikaran Yojana for Dzongu Assembly Constituency was held at Namprikthang ground, Dzongu, with the objective of extending financial assistance and support to women beneficiaries under the scheme.
The programme was graced by the Minister for Forest and Environment, Science and Technology and Mines and Geology Departments, cum Area MLA Mr Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, as the Chief Guest. The programme was also attended by Zilla Upadhyaksha Ms Sonam Kipa Bhutia, Chairperson, Horticulture Department, Ms Ongkit Lepcha, SDM Dzongu Mr Gideon Lepcha, Panchayats, OSDs, BDO Dzongu, officials from various departments, beneficiaries and members of the public.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Upadhyaksha Ms Sonam Kipa Bhutia, who extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and all the dignitaries present. She also highlighted the significance of the programme and acknowledged the continued efforts of the government towards the welfare and empowerment of women through various initiatives.
Following this, BDO, Passingdang, Dr Mahendra Tamang, presented a detailed overview of the Sikkim Aama Sasaktikaran Yojana and Sikkim Aama Sayog Yojana. He briefed the gathering on the objectives and benefits of the schemes, highlighting their role in providing financial assistance and strengthening the socio-economic well-being of women across the State.
As part of the programme, tokens of appreciation were presented to Passingdang Saffo GPU for securing third position at the State level in the Cleanest GPU category. The recognition acknowledged the collective efforts and dedication of the Panchayat representatives, local community and stakeholders towards maintaining cleanliness and promoting a clean and sustainable environment.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Mr Pintso Namgyal Lepcha highlighted various developmental and welfare initiatives undertaken by the State Government for the benefit of the people. He emphasised the importance of effectively utilising the financial assistance provided under the Sikkim Aama Sasaktikaran Yojana and encouraged all mothers to make productive use of the cheque amount for their individual and family well-being. He further reiterated the government’s commitment towards empowering women and ensuring inclusive development at the grassroots level.
The programme also witnessed the distribution of wheelchairs and other essential items to beneficiaries in need, as part of the initiative to extend support to the differently abled and economically vulnerable sections of society.
Thereafter, the cheque distribution ceremony for Gram Panchayat units was conducted, marking the distribution of financial assistance under the scheme to the eligible beneficiaries. The initiative aims to strengthen women’s financial independence and provide them with greater opportunities for socio-economic development.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Zilla Panchayat Ms Amrita Limboo, who expressed her gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, organising department, officials, Panchayat representatives and all those who contributed towards the successful conduct of the programme.
