Shramdaan and ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Plantation Drive Conducted at BAC Mangan

Mangan, October 1: A one-day voluntary Shramdaan programme under the theme “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath”, along with the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” plantation drive, was conducted at the premises of the Block Administrative Centre (BAC), Mangan today.
The programme was organised by the Block Development Society (BDS) under the Sikkim Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM), Rural Development Department, Mangan Block.
The initiative aimed to promote community participation, cleanliness, environmental conservation and collective responsibility towards building a clean and green environment.
The programme witnessed active participation from Self Help Group (SHG) members under Mangan Block and was conducted in the presence of the Block Development Officer (BDO), Mangan Mr Kailash Thapa. The activity was led by the Block Programme Manager (BPM), Assistant Programme Manager (APM) and Management Information System (MIS) personnel of SRLM, Mangan, along with SHG members.
The cleanliness drive received valuable support from Mr Karzong Bhutia, Municipal Executive Officer (MEO), Mangan, who facilitated the collection and disposal of waste through the municipal garbage collection truck and provided garbage bags for the activity. His support contributed to the smooth and effective conduct of the Shramdaan programme.
Following the cleanliness drive, a plantation activity was undertaken under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, with participants planting saplings within the identified premises. The initiative highlighted the importance of environmental sustainability and encouraged community members to contribute towards protecting and preserving the natural environment.
The programme reflected the spirit of voluntary community service and collective action, reinforcing the importance of cleanliness, greenery and active public participation in creating a healthier and more sustainable environment.
