Seven-Day Carpenter Skill Training under PM Vishwakarma Scheme Concludes at SICUN, Assam Lingzey

Pakyong, November 06 (IPR): A seven day basic skill training for carpenters under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme concluded today with a valedictory programme held at the training hall of Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN), Assam Lingzey, today.
The training was organised by SICUN, the empanelled training partner under the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)
Addressing the concluding programme, General Manager, DIC, Pakyong District, Mr Jigmi W Bhutia, urged the participants to apply the skills they had learned during the training in their respective professions. He also informed that the PM Vishwakarma Scheme provides artisans and craftspeople with collateral-free loans and encouraged them to avail its benefits.
CEO, SICUN, Mr Phadung Bhutia, encouraged the participants to utilise the training experience to enhance their craftsmanship and explore opportunities for self-reliance through the various components of the scheme, including financial and market linkages.
During the course of the training, participants were familiarised with topics such as the overview of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, transition from traditional to modern carpentry, use of modern power toolkit and credit support, wherein trainees can access collateral-free loans with interest subsidies provided by the government for business development.
A total of thirty six trainees participated in the programme and were awarded Participation Certificates at the conclusion of the event.
The PM Vishwakarma Scheme is a flagship initiative of the Central Government aimed at providing comprehensive support to traditional artisans and craftspeople through skill upgradation, financial assistance, and enhanced market access.
The valedictory programme was also attended by (SLPMU) Skill Development Expert, Mr Sukram Rai, District Coordinator, NSDC, Mr Dawa Lama Bhutia and representative from State nodal agencies, Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Sikkim.
