Date: 21-Aug-2024
Pakyong, 21 August (IPR): A one-day sensitisation programme on the One Stop Centre (OSC) and Violence Against Women was held today at the Pakyong Police Station, organised by the Women & Child Development Department Pakyong.
The programme aimed to raise awareness about the crucial services provided by the OSC and strengthen coordination with police personnel.
Ms Chong Chyuki Bhutia, Centre Administrator, highlighted that the One Stop Centres are designed to support women affected by violence in all forms—whether in private or public spaces, within the family, community, or workplace.
The OSC extends its services to women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, and economic abuse, regardless of age, class, caste, education status, marital status, race, or culture. Specialised services are available for women facing violence from sexual harassment, assault, domestic violence, trafficking, honour-related crimes, and more.
She also emphasised that all cases handled by the OSC are treated with utmost confidentiality. The OSC has been operational since February 2024 in Pakyong. The OSC offers a range of services, including emergency response and rescue, medical assistance, psychosocial support, legal aid and counselling, and shelter.
The programme was attended by Ms Dikit Lepcha Deputy Director W&CD, Mr Pradeep Chettri, SHO Pakyong and Police Personnel.
