Second day of training for Counting Officials

Gangtok, May 14 (IPR): The second day of training for Counting Supervisors, Counting Assistants and Micro-Observers for General Elections 2024 concludes today at DAC Gangtok today.
The officials who are assigned with the task of vote counting on June 2 (Assembly Constituencies) and June 4 (Sikkim Parliamentary Constituency) for Gangtok District underwent training on counting of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Postal Ballot.
The training had the presence of Mr Abhijit Patil Assistant Collector Gangtok, Mr Sonam Wongyal Lepcha District Planning Officer Gangtok-cum- Nodal Officer for Training Management Team, Mr Sunny Kharel State Level Master Trainer and Mr Jigme Wangchuk Bhutia State Level Master Trainer.
Mr Sonam Wongyal Lepcha in his brief address welcomed the Counting officials. He talked about regulations the counting officials ought to follow on counting day such as shunning gadgets inside the counting area. He also intimated the timing to the counting officials and vehicle arrangements for the officials.
Mr Sunny Kharel and Mr Jigme Wangchuk Bhutia State Level Master Trainers took the training session of the counting officials. The counting officials were trained on legal provisions related to counting, handling of the electronic voting machine (EVM), Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), counting of EVM votes, tabulation and data entry of votes, counting of postal ballot & Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS), rejection criteria for Postal Ballots, declaration of results and follow up actions, including sealing of EVMs and others after final result.
On the second day of the training session there were 107 officials in attendance.
