Second Preparatory Meeting for 212th Bhanu Jayanti 2026 Celebration Held at Soreng
Soreng, April 8 (IPR): The second preparatory meeting for the upcoming 212th Bhanu Jayanti 2026 celebration was held at the auditorium hall of the Engineering Complex, Malbasey, Soreng District, under the chairmanship of MLA (Rinchenpong) Mr Erung Tenzing Lepcha.
In his address, Mr Erung Tenzing Lepcha highlighted the importance of proper logistical arrangements, selection of venue, and incorporation of both entertainment and infotainment in the celebration. He suggested the inclusion of skits and drama to disseminate information effectively among the masses and urged all concerned to work with seriousness and maintain close coordination.
Vice President (ITS), Mr CP Sharma, shared his experience during a recent event in Delhi where he received recognition. He emphasised that the celebration should be organised as a state-oriented programme with national significance. He further stated that all official correspondence should be routed through the celebration committee and stressed the role of panchayat members in coordinating with the organising committee. He also encouraged content creators to develop and promote digital content based on Bhanu Jayanti themes and suggested organising competitions, panel discussions, and early preparation of blueprints by all sub-committees.
Zilla Adhakshya, Soreng, Mrs Tila Devi Gurung, representing the Cultural Committee, proposed a series of cultural programmes such as welcome songs, inter-constituency Ramayana Path, self-composed live folk song competitions (inter-college, state level), live folk dance competitions (inter-district, senior secondary level), solo folk song competitions (inter-district, primary level), and open folk dance competitions. She informed that selections for these competitions would be conducted online.
Earlier, District Collector (Soreng) Mr Dhiraj Subedi, delivered the welcome address and briefed the gathering on key decisions taken during the previous core committee meeting. He also congratulated Mr CP Sharma for receiving the Sahitya Akademi Award 2025 in the Nepali language category.
Mr Santosh Kr Allay, representing the Literature Committee, proposed various literary activities to be organised during the celebration, including inter-university debate competitions, inter-college open poetry competitions, inter-district Ramayana Path competitions, state-level language poetry events, guest lectures, senior secondary and secondary level painting competitions (pencil art), and felicitation of national-level literary associations.
Assistant Director (IT), Mr Amir Bhandari, highlighted the composition of the core and sub-committees and elaborated on their roles and responsibilities.
During the programme, the organising committee presented a token of appreciation to Mr CP Sharma for his achievement. The meeting concluded with an open discussion, wherein members shared their views and suggestions for the successful organising of the 212th Bhanu Jayanti 2026 celebration.
