Samvidhan Diwas Observed with Mass Preamble Reading in Pakyong
Pakyong, November 26 (IPR): As part of the observance of Samvidhan Diwas, also known as Constitution Day, a mass Preamble reading was held at the District Administrative Centre (DAC), Pakyong, today, marking the conclusion of the year-long theme “Hamara Samvidhan - Hamara Swabhiman”.
Additional District Collector (Headquarters), Mr Sabindra Rai, led the reading of the Preamble in the presence of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Headquarters), Mr Thendup Lepcha; SDM Pakyong, Mr Dakman Subba; heads of offices; and staff of the DAC.
The Preamble was read in Nepali, an official language under the Eighth Schedule, which Sikkim is uniquely positioned to represent.
Samvidhan Diwas, observed every year on 26 November, commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1949.
Similar observances were organised across all three subdivisions of Pakyong District, led by the respective heads of departments.
